Global buys six radio stations from Quidem Media

Global has purchased Quidem Media taking full control of the Capital stations run under franchise by the group.

Quidem entered into a brand licensing agreement with Global in 2019 and rebranded its six radio stations as Capital, keeping a local Drive show for the group.

Global confirmed the purchase to RadioToday but did not confirm if any changes are planned. A spokesperson told RadioToday: “We can confirm the acquisition and are pleased to be welcoming Quidem to the Global family.”

The names of the stations before rebranding to Capital in 2019 were:

107.6 Banbury Sound (Banbury, Brackley & North Oxfordshire)
107.1 Rugby FM (Rugby)
96.2 Touch FM (Coventry)
102 Touch FM (Shakespeare’s County & The Vale)
107.3 Touch FM (Warwick, Leamington & Kenilworth)
101.6/102.4 Touch FM (Tamworth, Burton & Lichfield)

Quidem was formed in 2009 by Steve Orchard and Wendy Pallot (both previously with GCap Media) when it purchased five stations from CN Group, and later acquired the Banbury licence.

Under ownership of Global, the group of six stations will no longer be required to broadcast its own Drive show as they all have permission to share programmes in the Central England Ofcom region.
