14 stations unite for GuilFest

RadioCentre has united 14 commercial radio stations across the south east to sponsor this year's GuilFest festival in Surrey, taking the deal away from BBC Radio 2.

Over 200 acts will perform across the weekend in Stoke Park in the centre of the the town. Headliners for the main stage, which is sponsored by commercial radio include Blondie, The Levellers, Cerys Matthews, Dodgy and Kula Shaker. BBC Radio 2 has held the sponsorship for the previous five years.
96.4 Eagle Radio will be recording at the festival and will share highlights and artist interviews amongst other local radio stations in the area.
Mercury FM 102.7, Ocean FM, Radio Jackie, Delta FM, Dream 107.2, Kestral FM, Kick FM, Isle of Wight Radio, Quay Radio, Spirit FM, County Sound, Star Radio 107.2 Bristol and Star 107.9 Cambridge will all broadcast highlights.
The stations will be getting listeners into the festival spirit in the run up to the event with extensive breakfast and drivetime competitions for tickets.
Florence Milvain, programming co-ordinator for RadioCentre, the industry body for Commercial Radio said: “We’re delighted that Commercial Radio is involved with GuilFest and will be broadcasting from the festival this year, it really has something for everyone and it is great that listeners will be able to tune into one of 14 local radio stations and hear highlights.”
Tony Scott who owns GuilFest said: “ This is our 17th year and we now have a licence for 24,000 per day. This is a mainstream festival with household name artists for the people of the South East so having all the local commercial radio stations promoting the event couldn’t be better.”
