Barclays donates Cash for Kids

Bauer Radio's charity Cash for Kids is about to benefit from an unprecedented move by Barclays in the North West of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Staff at the 222 local branches in these areas will be taking part in a number of fundraising activities throughout the next 12 months, giving their time and their talents to support Cash for Kids.
Robert MacLachlan, Barclays regional director for North West, Scotland and Northern Ireland said: “We strengthen the local communities in which we live and work by supporting a broad range of causes at a very local level. Cash for Kids was chosen as our regional partner as it is a charity close to the hearts of many of our staff and we know our fundraising will make a real and lasting difference to young people in the region.”
Dee Ford, managing director of Bauer Radio, said: “It is our ambition to increase the donations to £7 million in 08/09 and ultimately to reach £10million by 2010. The aim of the re-brand was to raise the profile of the charities to a national level to maximise the amount of money they can raise whilst ensuring that all the money raised continues to be invested locally.
Bauer will continue to underwrite £200,000 of the overall administration costs, as well as offering a staggering £1.5m of airtime to Cash for Kids per annum; a pledge of some £15m over the ten year period of the agreement.
