BBC Radio Merseyside has announced the death of former presenter and reporter Andy Ball who worked at the station for almost 30 years.
The station posted the news on Facebook, saying: “He loved the river and enjoyed nothing more than getting out into the communities right across the whole of Merseyside.
“We will miss him dearly and send all our love and condolences to his wife Lynn and family.”
Radio Merseyside paid tribute to Andy on-air today.
Andy had various roles at the station and was well known to listeners, from being a reporter to being part of the management team.
RadioToday has been sent this tribute by a former colleague: “The patience and kindness that he showed to both listeners and colleagues was second to none. His kindness and welcoming character often meant that he carried out training of new staff members, include those using the radio car.
“He always had time to chat, told a great story and has described as a genuinely good gentleman. He had an unwavering love for Liverpool, its people, the radio station and all its staff.
“He understood the communities within Liverpool and how Radio Merseyside could best serve them.”
Andy leaves behind his wife Lynn and family, and the radio family at Radio Merseyside.
