Bauer and YoungMinds launch new mental health radio campaign

A new series of radio messages is airing across Bauer Media’s UK stations to help people use social media more safely.

The campaign began today to mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and will run for one month.

The messages have been created in partnership with YoungMinds, the UK’s leading mental health charity for young people.

Each spot shares practical advice such as checking in with young people about their social media habits or muting accounts that may cause distress.

The aim is to support more mindful use of social media and encourage conversations about how much time people spend on their phones.

This activity is part of the wider ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ campaign and comes alongside new research from Bauer Media.

Findings show that nine in ten UK adults feel concerned about the impact of social media.

Among under thirty-fours, that figure rises to ninety-seven per cent.

Seventy per cent of people say social media makes them feel anxious, and more than half of those under thirty-four say they would feel safer online if they had more advice and support.

Simon Kilby from Bauer Media said the aim is to help audiences “use social media more safely and responsibly” and improve wellbeing.
