Six radio stations have been found in breach of their licence conditions after paying their Ofcom fees late.
The decision was published today in Issue 525 of Ofcom’s Broadcast and On Demand Bulletin.
According to the regulator, all six services paid their annual fees after the deadline, breaching Condition 3(2) of their respective radio licences. These payments were eventually received, so no further sanction has been applied at this stage.
The six radio services involved are:
* Centreforce 88.3 (Festiva Ltd), covering London and the South East
* Frisk Radio (Frisk Radio Ltd), based in Scarborough
* K107FM (Kirkcaldy Community Radio SCIO), serving Fife
* River Radio (River Radio Ltd), broadcasting across Thames Valley
* Passion Radio and 80s Rhythm (Southdown Media Ltd), operating in Sussex
* Bro Radio (Vale of Glamorgan Broadcasting CIC), based in Barry
In the same bulletin, one television licensee, Number 1 TV and Media Ltd, was found in breach of its TV licence conditions for not paying at all. Ofcom says this breach may lead to a statutory sanction following further consideration.
Ofcom reminded broadcasters that late or missed payments affect its ability to carry out regulatory duties, as licence fees contribute to funding its broadcast regulation work.
