26 UK community stations shared £467k from radio fund last year

Ofcom has confirmed that 26 community radio stations received funding through the Community Radio Fund during last year.

The grants, awarded to support the core running costs of not-for-profit stations, totalled £467,197.20 across the UK.

Managed by Ofcom and financed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the fund provides financial support for roles including station management, fundraising, and volunteer coordination.

Amounts awarded ranged from £4,320 to £33,854, with an average grant of £17,960 across the 26 stations.

Looking ahead, community radio is set to receive a significant uplift in support this year, as the funding pot has increased to £900,000.

The application window for the 2025-26 round is expected to open in early September.
