Former BBC and BFBS radio presenter Richard Nankivell dies
Former BBC Radio Cumbria presenter Richard Nankivell has died after a short illness.
The radio station announced the news toady, saying he will be remembered fondly by listeners across Cumbria and beyond. Tributes have been paid on social media.
Richard was 75 years old and had been in broadcasting for 41 years.
He started out at BFBS Radio as a trainee in Cyprus, and also worked in Preston at Red Rose for a while before joining BBC Radio Cumbria in 1992.
He was born in Devon and trained as a livestock auctioneer with the family business in North Devon after leaving school.
He died over the weekend, and BBC Radio Cumbria’s executive editor Chris Rick told the BBC his humour and brilliant understanding of radio made his shows very popular in Cumbria.
