Former BBC producer Malcolm Prince brings musicals show to Boom Radio
Malcolm Prince is launching a new weekly show focused on stage and screen music on Boom Radio.
Malcolm’s Musicals and Movies will air at 9pm on Wednesdays, starting 6th May, with a repeat on Saturdays on Boom Light, bringing a mix of show tunes, film themes and lesser known selections.
The programme will feature writers and composers including Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, alongside music from current West End productions such as Wicked, Hamilton and The Devil Wears Prada.
Film music will also play a central role, with soundtracks from composers including John Barry, Danny Elfman, John Williams and Ennio Morricone, as well as songs from Disney productions.
Malcolm said: “I’m thrilled to be joining my favourite radio station. Boom’s savvy audience loves great music, and I can’t wait to get started – jazz hands at the ready!”
Malcolm previously spent two decades working with Paul O’Grady at the BBC and produced a range of programmes for Radio 2.
He was the launch producer of Elaine Paige on Sunday, Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes’ Saturday Escape, and for a decade, he produced Graham Norton’s Saturday morning programme.
His work also includes documentaries on artists such as Billy Joel, Celine Dion and Kylie Minogue, alongside series on musical theatre and film.
He was also the Executive Producer of Steve Wright In The Afternoon, Wake Up to Wogan and Claudia Winkleman’s Art Show.
Malcolm left the BBC in 2022 and last year, published Not The Same Without You; his tribute to Paul O’Grady.
