Steve and Karen will host breakfast across Hits Radio 90s and Hits Radio 00s from Monday 20 July, replacing Joel Ross.
The programme will be carried at the same time on both decade stations, with shared speech content while each service keeps its own music.
The technology involved in making this happen is used around various Bauer networks, and was created for Absolute Radio under the heading of Project Banana.
Hits Radio 90s will continue playing 90s throwbacks, while Hits Radio 00s will feature songs from the 2000s around the same presenter links.
Bauer says the move uses audio technology already in use across other parts of the group, allowing one breakfast show to serve both stations without merging their music formats.
The programme will include conversation, entertainment and the Wonky Minute quiz.
Hits Radio Content Director Paul Gerrard said Steve and Karen have “an incredible connection with audiences”, adding that Bauer can bring the show to both services “while keeping the music tailored to each station.”
Paul also thanked Joel Ross for his work on Hits Radio 00s Breakfast and his wider contribution to the Hits Radio Network.
The change follows other recent schedule updates at Hits Radio 90s and Hits Radio 00s, including Scott Clarke joining 90s and Ellie Prohan becoming part of the 00s line-up.
