Tony Livesey has left BBC Radio 5 Live after 16 years, the BBC has confirmed.
Tony stepped back from his weekday late night talk show last month. This followed allegations made against his former newspaper boss, David Sullivan, which were reported in a joint investigation by the Times and BBC Panorama.
Before joining the BBC, Tony worked as editor-in-chief of Sullivan’s Daily and Sunday Sport publications.
He joined the BBC in 2006 and began presenting on 5 Live in 2010, including a spell as drivetime host.
The BBC said Tony had requested a break from presenting while the issues raised by the investigation were examined.
The news of Tony’s departure was reported on the BBC website. In an email to staff, 5 Live controller Heidi Dawson said Tony had now decided to leave the station. Heidi told colleagues that Tony wanted to pass on his thanks to those he had worked with at 5 Live.
She added that many staff had enjoyed working with him and wished him well for the future.
