Global is bringing together LBC and The News Agents for overnight coverage of the US midterm elections, with presenters reporting live from America.
The special programming begins at 10pm on Tuesday 3 November, with coverage continuing throughout the night on LBC, YouTube and Global Player.
Washington Correspondent Simon Marks, who also presents American Week, will host the opening three hours until 1am, providing results, analysis and reaction as voting concludes across the United States.
Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel will then take over from Washington DC between 1am and 4am, with fellow News Agents presenter Lewis Goodall contributing live reports from Texas.
Simon will return between 5am and 6am before Nick Ferrari presents an extended four hour breakfast programme, examining the results and their implications for President Donald Trump’s administration, Congress and the wider world.
Alongside the radio coverage, The News Agents will release special podcast episodes throughout the week, with Emily and Jon reporting from Washington alongside former Trump Homeland Security Chief Miles Taylor.
Lewis will provide additional reporting from Texas, focusing on a Senate contest in the state.
The News Agents USA will record a dedicated election episode on Wednesday 4 November, with further programmes from Washington planned for Thursday and Friday.
The News Agents Editor Tom Hughes said: “The US midterms will be a crucial test of the political mood in America, and we want to bring audiences as close to the story as possible.”
LBC Managing Editor Sophie Berman said: “This will be LBC’s most ambitious US election coverage yet, with a full night of dedicated programming bringing the latest developments, incisive analysis and reaction from both sides of the Atlantic.”
The entire election night broadcast will also be streamed live on YouTube, allowing viewers to follow the same coverage as radio listeners.
