Freeview set to overtake Sky

Listening to radio via TV is not exactly something new. There were dozens of radio stations broadcasting in the early 90s on Astra analogue satellites.

Now more than 20 radio stations are available free to air via Freeview – which is now in 6.4million homes and it set to overtake the Sky subscriber base of 8million, based on recent sales.

Freeview chief Ilse Howling said the expanded range of channels available on the service is attracting a younger audience compared to its launch.

Emap services The Hits, Heat, KERRANG!, smash hits radio and Mojo are just some of the digital radio services available.
