Absolute closes digital dabbl

Absolute Radio’s experimental radio station dabbl has ceased broadcasting online, and on the London and Cardiff DAB multiplexes.

The team behind the station at One Golden Square Labs say they are taking it off-air and back to the lab whilst they experiment with how dabbl can continue.

Its aim is to let a radio station’s playlist be powered by its community, and the more often a song was voted for a song, the more often dabbl would play it.

Across this year the most voted for songs have included a live version of Muse's Uprising recorded in Madrid, Brandon Flowers' Crossfire and Gorillaz's On Melancholy Hill. A new show on Absolute Radio, called Sunday Night Music Club, will play tracks which would have normally been broadcast on dabbl.

The station launched [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.5219]less than a year ago[/link] on October 1st 2009.
