New BBC digital radio transmitters have been launched to improve DAB coverage in areas of the Peak District and the North Wales coast.
It means an extra 30,000 people will now be able to receive stations on the corporation's national multiplex.
The new transmitter in Stanton Moor provides DAB coverage for north of Derbyshire, including Matlock and Bakewell. As well as adding 30,000 potential listeners to the national DAB network, it will improve the signal for around 15,000 more. The BBC says another transmitter will be installed at Quarndon later in the year to serve the south of the county and Derby.
The new transmitter at Penmaen Rhos serves Rhyl, Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay on the north Wales coast and adds around 4,000 to the national DAB network and improves coverage for a further 17,000.
The BBC's now put in nine new digital radio masts in the first three months of this year. Mark Friend, Controller of Multiplatform and Interactive at BBC Audio and Music said: "The BBC is committed to broadening the availability of digital radio and we are delighted to further expand and improve coverage. We hope more listeners will discover the range of programmes and services offered by DAB."
