More tune in to BBC Local Radio

BBC Local Radio fared well in the latest set of audience figures – nearly 7.5 million people are listening to the Corporation's local services every week, and total listening has increased by over 4 million hours, to 79.3 million.

Amongst the BBC Local Radio highlights;

    BBC Radio Manchester increased its reach by over 10% from 194,000 to 222,000, and average hours by over a third, from 6.3 to 8.8
    BBC Radio Humberside saw a substantial increase in average hours from 8.8 to 11.2, resulting in station share rising from 12.2% to 14.8%
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire recorded increases in reach, hours and share
    BBC Radio Merseyside increased total hours by three quarters of a million and share from 13.4% to 15.9%

Although most local stations reported similar figures to last quarter, there were stations that suffered significant losses:
    Radio Cornwall dropped in reach from 36% to 29% and lost over 3% in market share.
    BBC WM lost a fifth of its weekly reach, dropping from 313,000 to 250,000, while total hours dropped by three quarters of a million

Scotland returned the best results in the Nations, attracting over 120,000 new listeners in the past three months and increased total hours by over 1.3 million.
