Dominic Byrne to join Capital FM London

95.8 Capital FM has hired former BBC Radio 1 journalist Dominic Byrne to work on breakfast with Dave Berry & Lisa Snowdon.

dominicDominic left Radio 1 when the Chris Moyles show ended last year, to be replaced by Nick Grimshaw.

He said: “I can’t wait to start my new job! I’ve set the alarm already. The Capital Breakfast show is legendary and Dave and Lisa are fantastic broadcasters. I’m really excited to be working alongside them.”

Reaction on Twitter came from former Radio 1 colleague Dave Vitty who said “Great news, well done” and Tina Daheley who said “Congratulations Dom” and Capital’s Dave Berry who tweeted “Welcome to the show big man. Have a peaceful weekend because come Monday it’s ON!! x”

95.8 Capital FM’s acting Programme Director Robert D’Ovidio said: “Dominic Byrne is one of the most recognisable voices in radio and brings with him awealth of broadcast experience. He will be joining London’s most dynamic breakfast duo and we’re sure that our listeners will love the new addition to the Capital Breakfast team.”

Dominic’s radio career started in Manchester at Kiss 102 on breakfast news before moving to London to freelance at IRN and Virgin.

He’s also a Voice Over and is currently the voice of an alien called Zorst in the CBeebies show Space Pirates.

Dominic starts reading the news on Monday. Meanwhile, here’s the parody song he made before leaving Radio 1 and recently sung live during the Chris Moyles Show Live Tour.
