Danny Baker re-united with Danny Kelly

Did BT listen to the RadioToday Live broadcast from the Sonys? During our interview with Danny Baker, he discussed his future plans, saying he’d like to work for BT Sport because “that’s where all the money is”.

A month later BT announce a new Friday night television show which re-unites Danny with talkSPORT’s Danny Kelly – his old radio partner from BBC Radio 5 days.

It was the early 90s when the two were first brought together on the newly launched station, where Danny hosted a number of shows including Sportscall each Saturday lunchtime, along with 6-0-6 then Morning Edition on weekdays.

The new television show, Baker and Kelly’s Sporting Phone Out will be live on Friday evenings for 40 weeks with the first programme to air on 16th August, the day before the next Barclays Premier League season kicks off.

Danny Baker says “We intend to make all other twisted opinion shows seem as dull as egg eating contests.” Danny Kelly continued: “Seriously, we’re delighted to have another crack at whatever it is that we do.”

Both Danny Baker and Danny Kelly will continue with their current work, at 5 live and talkSPORT respectively.

Head of BT Sport, Simon Green: “Danny Baker and Danny Kelly are two of the country’s best-known and admired football hosts. Their off-the-wall observations and passionate, humorous and engaging style of debate will be a huge hit with our viewers as we try to build some fantastic and fun programmes around the incredible live rights we have secured.”
