Classic FM to broadcast live from Bristol

Global Radio’s Classic FM will be broadcasting its entire daytime output live from Bristol next Monday, to celebrate the inaugural Bristol Proms event in the city.

From 9.00am, eleven hours of Classic FM programmes will come live from the Bristol Old Vic, host of the Bristol Proms. They will include John Suchet’s morning programme, Jamie Crick’s afternoon show and Classic FM Drive with John Brunning. This is the first time that the presenters have broadcast their shows from the city.

The station is media partner of the first ever Bristol Proms – a brand new series of events designed to update the format of the hugely popular promenade concerts of the 18th and 19th centuries. It features a line-up of classical artists including Nicola Benedetti, Daniel Hope, Peter Gregson, Voces8, German minimalist composer Hauschka, the Sacconi Quartet and Guy Johnston.

Classic FM’s Managing Editor Sam Jackson said: “Classic FM is delighted to be playing a central role in the inaugural Bristol Proms. The festival shares our mission of making high-quality classical music available to everyone, no matter what their background, and we’re very much looking forward to broadcasting live from the Bristol Old Vic on Monday 29th July.”
