Myers continues to lead Awards committee

John Myers will continue to Chair the organising committee for the awards formerly known as the Sonys, the Radio Academy has confirmed.

He’ll be joined by a new team responsible for putting on the 2014 show, deciding the award categories, the make-up of the judging panels and the recipients of the year’s Special Awards.

The new committee consists of Steve Ackerman (Managing Director, Somethin’ Else); Helen Boaden (Director, BBC Radio); Ben Cooper (Controller, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra and Chairman of The Radio Academy); Dee Ford (Group Managing Director Radio, Bauer Media Group ); Richard Park (Co-Founder, Group Executive Director & Director of Broadcasting, Global Radio); Phil Riley (Group Chief Executive, Orion Media Group); Paul Robinson (Chief Executive, The Radio Academy); Bob Shennan (Controller, BBC Radio 2, 6 Music and Asian Network); Mark Story (Managing Director, RadioStory), Paul Sylvester (Head of Presentation, Absolute Radio) and Scott Taunton (Chief Executive, UTV Media).

The event will take place on Monday 12th May 2014 at London’s Grosvenor House, hosted by Chris Evans.
