Global Radio’s Andy Buckingham departs

Andy Buckingham, a technologist for Global Radio’s Creative Technology team is leaving to set up his own company.

He’s starting togglebit, an agency specialising in rapid prototyping of software and hardware solutions.

Andy has been based in Bristol for six years, as part of the team responsible for researching and developing solutions for listening to the group’s portfolio on new devices and platforms.

He told RadioToday: “It’s with a heavy heart that, after working in commercial radio for 12 years, for the first time I won’t be based inside the beating heart of a local radio station. There’s still a huge amount of crossover with the type of projects I’ll be working on and the need to continue growing radio listening in a digital future through innovative use of technology. I hope to continue exploring many exciting new projects closely alongside my inextinguishable passion for the medium.”

As well as co-founding the RadioDNS project, Andy continues to look after the technical operations of the organisation as well as overseeing the development of the RadioTAG application. Most recently Andy was recognised by the Radio Academy’s 30 Under 30 two years in a row in both 2011 and 2012.
