Bauer station Hallam FM has launched a month-long campaign to promote its patch and highlight the local content it offers to listeners.
We’re told the ‘Made in South Yorkshire September’ promotion is about delivering ‘longer listening, increased talkability and enhanced commercial opportunities.’
Throughout September, Hallam is running everything from on air big cash prize competitions and live outside broadcasts – to an ‘I Heart South Yorkshire’ photo wall and celebrity interviews with local ‘legends’ like Brian Blessed and Peter Stringfellow.
After an OB to kick off the campaign in Doncaster on Friday, this weekend the station’s putting on a drive-in movie event at Don Valley Stadium featuring Sheffield movie The Full Monty. Rumour has it Hallam FM presenters Ed Nell and Ollie Hayes – with some willing listener volunteers – might also be showcasing their very own Full Monty on the night!
On air production’s using listener vox pops, South Yorkshire poetry and music artists from the county too. The station’s also offering a special ‘Made in South Yorkshire’ airtime package during the month.
Anthony Gay, Station Director for Hallam FM & Regional Programming Director for Bauer Radio in Yorkshire told RadioToday.co.uk: “I’m very proud of the place in which I grew up and this initiative is a focused way for us to demonstrate our commitment to delivering the best possible entertainment and information for the people of South Yorkshire. It’s about walking the walk, not just talking the talk.”
Hallam FM’s Big John at Breakfast added: “For no other reason than, we can, we’re celebrating all that’s great in our area. Saluting the legends, the people, the places. In a world of bad news, it’s great to remember what’s good at home. I can’t wait to get the stars on the show, take the radio station all over South Yorkshire and giveaway all that money!”
