TLRC buys Dune FM

Southport station Dune FM has been bought by TLRC.

Rumours have been circulating around the radio industry for many weeks now, resulting in an announcement at the station on Tuesday evening.

TLRC has purchased the station from Forward Media for 1.2 million pounds.

Richard Wheatly, Chief Executive of TLRC said: "The acquisition of this business alongside our recent acquisition of 2BR in Burnley significantly increases our company's presence in the valuable North West of England advertising market. In addition, we believe that Dune FM will benefit from the expertise of our management team at 2BR.

"These are exciting times for the UK radio sector. We have always said that industry consolidation offers opportunities for our company to create a strong second tier local radio group. We will be watching developments very closely."

Dune FM is the radio licensee serving Southport, Ormskirk and Sefton in the Merseyside area. According to RAJAR Q2, 2004, it had an audience of 31,000 listeners and a total of 272,000 listening hours per week.
