End of the road for Banbury Radio Group

BRG FM today announced that it will be pulling out of the bidding war for the new Banbury Radio license due to be awarded later this year.

After careful consideration by the group and research undertaken by Forward Media who were financially backing the bid, both parties felt that it would not be viable to apply for the license for various reasons.

A member of BRG said, Ofcom (The Radio Regulator) was to announce plans for a community station in the area, then BRG feel this would be more appropriate to apply for. We do not feel that the new station can be self supporting or operated as a full blown independent local radio station as it is currently advertised.?

BRG FM, (Banbury Radio Group ? Formally Impact Live). Broadcast first on the internet in 2002 until their FM trial broadcast during June 2003. Impact Live was the only station to offer the community a chance to broadcast their own show across the airwaves in Banbury and on the Internet and not sound like any other commercial radio station.

If you have any comments about the various companies bidding for the new license, BRG have a forum where you can post comments about any of the companies bidding for the license. Visit www.brgfm.com/forum

BGR wish the remaining applicants the best of luck in their bids.
