Celador Radio outline the details of the radio station it aims to create for the Solent area. The station name will be The Coast 106 – a new quality regional service geared towards listeners aged 45 and over.
Jim Moir from Celador said, “We aim to create a station that serves this audience in a mature, intelligent manner, giving it a quality service on a par with a national network but also with a strong regional bias with news and lifestyle information.”
Paul Smith said, “Radio 2 has a significantly high listenership in the Solent area which, we believe, exposes the lack of a quality local radio catering for those aged 45 and over. We are confident that the music format and presentation style of The Coast will attract this audience and broaden choice and diversity in the area.
“We are continuing to consult closely with the members of the public, local organisations and business. We plan to unveil more details in the near future.”
The Celador team will announce additional locally based directors to The Coast 106 board and other key local partnerships over the next few weeks. Full details of the Solent licence applicants, including GMG’s smooth fm, Saga Radio, Kerrang, allTALKfm and Virgin can be found on this site by clicking on the licence applicants link here.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 5th May.
