Pure Digital Sponsors Student Awards

PURE Digital is proud to support the next generation of radio stars by sponsoring the 2005 Student Radio Awards.

The Student Radio Awards are the benchmark for Student Radio talent in the UK. They showcase the next generation of big name presenters and programmers who will be shaping the future of British radio.

Award winners will each receive a PURE Bug DAB digital radio. All attendees will receive a voucher entitling them to a discount on PURE radios.

This year?s awards ceremony took place last night (Thursday 24th November 2005) at The New Connaught Rooms in Holborn.

PURE Digital and design guru Wayne Hemingway teamed up to create the Bug, a DAB digital radio with striking looks and advanced features including MP3 playback and ReVu?, which lets users pause, rewind and record live radio. The Bug is the most fully featured DAB radio on the market and is sure to appeal to the stars of student radio.

Since 1996, the Student Radio Association, in association with BBC Radio 1, the Radio Academy and a host of generous industry bodies and related sponsors, has set out annually to recognise the cream of student radio talent. Towards the end of the academic year, hundreds of student broadcasters, stretching across the country, enter demo tapes into about twelve different categories. Over the summer, a panel of industry judges led by BBC Radio 1?s Steve Lamacq, make the difficult decisions and select a group of nominees.

Over 500 students, radio industry management and celebrities attend the lavish awards party, the climax of which culminates in the coveted Best Male, Best Female and Best Station Awards. Past winners have gone on to a host of top industry jobs.
