Adil Ray to host Asian Drive

Adil Ray, who currently hosts his own evening music show on BBC Asian Network, will become the new host of Drive (4.00-7.00pm weekdays) from 15 May 2006.

Adil was a key player during the Asian Network’s digital launch in 2002. He has presented numerous shows on television as well as radio and is currently the host of Desi DNA, BBC TWO’s music, fashion and lifestyle show.

He will broadcast the show from the BBC?s Mailbox building in Birmingham.

Adil joins Drive in spring as part of the new schedule being rolled out by Controller Bob Shennan who has been in overall charge of the Network for just over a year.

Bob Shennan said: “Adil is one of the outstanding talents on the British Asian scene. He has been pivotal on the radio after the past few years.

“This new challenge will see him more central to the new Asian Network vision.”

Adil said: “News is becoming increasingly important, particularly for young Asians.

“I am really excited about the responsibility of delivering news to young British Asians whilst continuing our reputation for playing cutting edge music.

“Oh, and I get my social life back!”
