Alan Mullett joins Laser

Laser Broadcasting has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Alan Mullett as Director of Development.

Alan started his career working for the Wolverhampton Express and Star newspaper group before joining Beacon Radio in 1976 firstly as Sales Executive before becoming Sales Director and then Managing Director in 1987, a role he continued in until 1996.

During this time Alan increased annual turnover and played a part in the development of the commercial radio sector as a whole through his involvement in the industry?s inaugural marketing body and his Chairmanship of the annual advertising awards.

He also has designed and delivered Sales Training and Administration systems for the industry. After successfully negotiating the sale of Beacon to GWR, Alan founded The IMS Partnership, a company that provided strategic, business planning and fund raising advice. He then became Managing Director of Instep UK Limited, a management and organisational consultancy. Since leaving Beacon he has worked for clients such as Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, British Telecom and Glaxo Smith Kline.

Alan has now joined Laser Broadcasting with responsibility for the long-term strategy. Alan Mullett says, ?Laser has a strategy based on local radio stations being an intrinsic part of the community they serve, through investment in local programming and a local sales resource, allied to a strong promotional presence. This is exactly the same policy that made Beacon Radio so successful. Laser is now planning to purchase a number of radio stations and develop this policy. I?m delighted to join Laser at this time?. I believe my experience will help Laser develop this and move towards its ambitions of an AIM flotation?.
