Edith Bowman, Radio 1 DJ said: “Again the line up for Radio 1’s big weekend gets stronger and stronger and shows the variety of music we play. I’m looking forward to seeing Snow Patrol back on their old stomping ground, Primal Scream will be quite special and I’m well excited that two of my favourite bands, Bloc Party and We Are Scientists, are also on the bill.”

Jason Carter, Executive Producer of Live Music & Events Radio 1 said: “Radio 1’s Big Weekend has the most amazing lineup ever this year and with the extra capacity for 30,000 people it’s going to be a great weekend in Dundee. We’re really pleased that we’re able to bring all this music to Scotland. If you can’t make it down the live music will be on Radio 1 across the two days.”

Dundee Lord Provost John Letford said: “The excitement and anticipation around Dundee about Radio 1’s Big Weekend has been building since the city was confirmed as this year’s venue. This will be a tremendous weekend for both Dundee and Radio 1, and the city will be the focus of massive national attention. There will be important spin-off benefits for the city and its vibrant music scene and the legacy of this event will have a positive impact for years to come.”
