Liverpool licence advertised

Ofcom have today advertised the new licence for Liverpool and the surrounding area. The new licence will be awarded before the end of the year and the winning bid will broadcast on a suggested frequency of 105.9 FM

Some companies have already carried out trial broadcasts in the City including Kerrang! and Liver FM who are both expected to make a bid. Ofcom estimates that this licence could achieve coverage of an area with an adult (aged 15+) population of around one and a half million.

The exact coverage will be determined by the location of the transmission site and other technical characteristics.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 3.00 p.m. on Thursday 13 July 2006. A non-refundable fee of ?25,000 will be payable for each application submitted.
