SMG Director to retire

The longest-serving Non-Executive Director of SMG, Allan Shiach, is to retire from the Group’s Board following SMG’s Annual General Meeting on 26 May.

63 year old Allan joined the SMG Board in 1993 and is a former chairman of The Scottish Film Council, The Writer’s Guild of Great Britain and of Scottish Screen. Allan currently serves on SMG’s Nomination Committee and has previously been a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Paying tribute to Allan’s time with SMG, Chris Masters, Chairman, said:

‘Allan’s contribution to the SMG Board over the years has been immeasurable. His knowledge of the creative industries, together with his broader business experience, has afforded the company a great deal of wise and incisive counsel. We will all miss his involvement in the Group. From right across SMG, we offer Allan our grateful thanks and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.’

Commenting on his 13 years on the SMG Board, Allan Shiach said:

‘It has been a privilege to serve on the Board of SMG. I pay tribute to the unfailing commitment of staff and management over 13 years. Challenge and opportunity, in a changing environment, have been met with skill, diligence and good sense. I offer my very best wishes to those who will have care of the promising opportunities which the future presents and wish to thank my Board colleagues for their kindness and support.’
