BBC Scotland moves radio man

Jeff Zycinski, Head of Radio, BBC Scotland, is to re-locate to Inverness as part of the broadcaster’s plan to position key editorial roles in regional offices.

The move from Glasgow, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, forms part of BBC Scotland’s strengthening commitment to an all-Scotland strategy. Ken MacQuarrie, Controller of BBC Scotland, said: “I believe this is an important step for BBC Scotland which will provide a valuable perspective to our senior editorial team.”

Jeff’s management style involves regular visits to centres outside Glasgow and he will continue to visit production centres across Scotland.

He said: “I am looking forward to the move. The digital revolution will not be confined to Pacific Quay in Glasgow and regional centres, such as Inverness, will benefit greatly from the technological advances we are making.

“Inverness is a fast-growing city and it is important that BBC Scotland is connected to that growth.”

Plans to develop the Inverness base into a premier broadcasting centre are at an advanced stage. Over the next few weeks a user group will be set up to participate in the detailed development of the site.
