World Cup on the World Service

BBC World Service will bring listeners all the action from the World Cup with 30 reporters covering 33 languages throughout the tournament.

Programmes include ‘World Cup Have Your Say’ at 9am every day, and Sportsworld each Saturday at 3.05, 4.05 and 5.05pm will bring results, action and top stories throughout the World Cup. A dedicated network of sport reporters, including Martin Fookes, Ashish Sharma and Alex Capstick will be on the spot to bring the highs and lows, thrills and spills of the global football tournament.

Sports correspondent Harry Peart will bring the latest stories, while roving reporters Tom Hagler and Ros Atkins provide special reports from around the tournament, examining the fortunes of the newcomer teams.

Alan Green joins the team on location in Germany in World Football on Saturday 10 June at 4.30pm to look at World Cup 2006 issues. The World Today and Europe Today co-present the opening ceremony from Munich on Friday 9 June at 4.00pm.
