Emap launch Manchester awards

Key 103 and the Manchester Evening News, in conjunction with Out There Events, have announced a new awards ceremony for Manchester. The ?MCR10 Awards? will celebrate the best of Manchester over the past 10 years.

All elements of Manchester life from people to architecture, events to retail will be recognised. The 20 strong award categories will celebrate the amazing transformation the city has seen over the last decade, and will be voted for by the public through the Key 103 website and Manchester Online.

Nadine Callan, Key 103?s Marketing Director said, ?This is an amazing event for Manchester, we are incredibly lucky to have so much to celebrate within the city. This is going to be a landmark event for us all and it?s good to be working alongside The Manchester Evening News and Out There Events. There have been some great contributions to Manchester life during the past decade that deserve recognition.?

The partnership was formed as the city reflected on the recent 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attack on Manchester, Saturday 15th June 1996, and promises to be a huge event for everyone involved in the redevelopment and regeneration of the city.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Midland Hotel in City Centre Mancehster on 28th September 2006.

On the event, the M.E.N.’s communications director Elaine Darbyshire said: “We are all really excited about the MCR10 Awards and feel confident that people will get behind the event and make it an annual awards ceremony in recognition of the people, places and organisations which continue to develop and improve the city. In the first Instance, we felt there was an opportunity to create an event, which recognises those individuals and the places that have transformed Manchester into a leading European city.”
