Green light for Red FM

A new community radio station for Redbridge is to commence broadcasting on Saturday 17th June for a 28 day stint. This will be the third temporary licence for the station, which hopes to become a permenant addition to the airwaves in London.

The RSL will be opened by Television star and Britains top modern Indian Dance expert Honey Kalaria. During The Broadcast Red FM hopes to give local students from both the College and Redbridge Youth Services an insight into how a Radio station operates.

Station Manager John Varnham comments: ?Although We were unsuccessful with our recent bid to become a full time community station for Redbridge due to a lack of available space on FM. OFCOM have indicated that should we re-apply on AM it will be looked on favourably. We are currently looking into this and will be finding out during this years broadcast if our listeners support the idea of Red AM. This is an exciting time both in Redbridge and the UK for Radio and we are confident that we will be returning to Redbridge in the near future as a full time Community Radio Station with our unique coverage of local issues, entertainment and personalities that listeners enjoy so much.?
