Ofcom advertises Manchester FM

As expected this month, Ofcom have advertised a new licence to cover Manchester. This is the second new licence for City in two years, the previous being awarded to GCap Media and now broadcasting as Xfm on 97.7 Mhz FM. The new station will broadcast on 106.1 Mhz FM and is expected to reach one and a half million adults.

The closing-date for the receipt of completed applications is 3.00 p.m. on Thursday 5 October 2006. Ofcom require ?25,000 for each application submitted.

Expected applicants as this stage include Celador, Chrysalis, GMG Radio and Saga amongst others.
