
BBC Radio 1 added 689,000 listeners in the last quarter ? boosted by a record performance from Chris Moyles.
RAJAR results show the network’s reach up to 10.42 million (from 9.73m last quarter and 10.24m last year) and a record audience for The Chris Moyles Show, with 6.79 million listeners tuning in – up 472,000 on the quarter and 534,000 on the year.
Radio 1’s share of listening is 10.3% – the highest in more than six years and an increase of 1.2% on the quarter (9.1%) and 1.1% on the year (9.2%). Jenny Abramsky, Director, BBC Radio and Music, said: “I’m delighted to see Radio 1’s distinctive blend of music programming and innovative use of digital and interactive media attracting more young listeners.”
BBC Radio’s share of listening is 54.7% ? down on last quarter’s record (55.4%) but still up on the year (54%). All BBC Network Radio’s reach of 32.85 million is up on the quarter (32.57m) and steady on the year (32.89m).
