BBC to close high street shops

BBC Shops across the country are being axed due to difficulties in making a profit. The flagship store in Norwich is closing, along with Kingston-Upon-Thames, Tunbridge Wells, Belfast and three stores in central London. The shops are all operated by BBC Worldwide and will close on March 31st.

The shops carried the entire range of BBC books, videos, DVDs, Multimedia, toys and merchandise.

BBC Worldwide said: “In the light of both intense high-street competition, and the success of the online site bbcshop.com, which is able to offer a wider range of TV-related products, it has been decided that the seven physical shops will close.”
