Peak FM host releases song

UTV Radio station Peak FM is teaming up with Chesterfield group Ovacast to release a single for a helpline that benefits thousands of women each year. Breakfast co-host Becky Measures is featured on the song, which will be available for download from Monday.

The song, "No Big Deal", is inspired by Becky’s life changing decision to undergo drastic surgery, and sees the proceeds going towards the Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline, whose £40,000 per year government funding was recently cut off.

As well as radio play and press attention, the song is being performed at schools, colleges, pubs, universities and venues across England. It’s being released on CD single and Internet download through numerous sites along with a rigorous Myspace, and word-of-mouth campaign.

Becky said, “The number of people involved is phenomenal and we’re hoping to at least make the top 40, hopefully top 20. If it wasn’t for this helpline then hundreds of women facing the same decision as me would not get the help and advice that I was fortunate enough to benefit from.

Peak FM’s Programme Controller Chris Buckley commented: "This is the proof again that Peak FM is a station that does more than just play songs. Becky never gives up helping others; she’s a real inspiration to the station."
