Channel 4 has managed to persuade the owners of talkSPORT and Virgin Radio, UTV and SMG, to join them for their bid to apply for the second national digital multiplex. The claims, in The Guardian, also suggests Emap will join them. Bids are due on March 28th.
The national television broadcaster entered into the world of radio last year with the launch of Channel 4 Radio, providing programmes online. They also announced their intentions to challenge the BBC, and plan to launch rival music channels, along with news, comedy and drama.
GCap Media, owners of the first national digital multiplex are not believed to be involved.
