Soapstar joins Virgin Radio

Former Eastenders actor Shane Richie's joining national broadcaster Virgin Radio to present a series of music and interview-based shows, starting at Easter. Shane is Virgin's latest big-name signing after others like Al Murray and Suggs.

Shane is a former Pontins blue-coat and musical theatre star, who then became known to millions as Alfie Moon on Eastenders. He'll be playing the best of British music during Virgin Radio's "Great British Bank Holiday Weekend next month, as well as chatting with some of the country's top celebrities.

"I love Virgin Radio, I love Suggs and I love Christian O’Connell. I can’t wait to be part of the team." says Shane. "I like to think of myself as voice of the people, friend of the stars. We're going to have a bit of fun here!"

Virgin Radio chief executive Paul Jackson said: "This is the start of a marriage made in rock n’roll heaven. The conversations between Shane and his showbiz mates could go anywhere – from the stories he's already told me this is not to be missed."

Catch Shane on Virgin Radio on the Easter Bank holiday weekend – Monday 9th April 2-5pm.
