From Manchester to the World

Manchester based independent production company Made in Manchester is about to make its global debut with a special two-part series with the legendary British musician, singer, poet and composer Jah Wobble. The weekly show starts June 9th on the BBC World Service.

In ‘Jah Wobble’s Mystical Musical Tour’, he tours the world exploring the ways in which drumming and droning, chanting and singing connect people to the sacred.

Executive Producer Andrew Graystone says: "From the earliest archaeological records to the most vibrant living traditions today, there is evidence of the power of sound to calm the soul, raise the spirits or celebrate the earth. In this series Jah Wobble demonstrates exactly that."

Celebrating the company’s first commission for the BBC World Service, Creative Director Ashley Byrne says: "The World Service commission is a big step forward for Made in Manchester Productions’. Together with commissions for ITV1, Radio 4 and Radio 2, we are quickly demonstrating that there are no no-go areas for this company."
