Loot helps Capital 95.8 charity

Capital 95.8 has signed a deal with Loot newspapers to help host the World’s Largest Car Boot Sale on Monday (28th May). Money raised will go towards Help a London Child and will be held at Aldenham Park in North London. If successful, the Sale will enter the Guinness World Book of Records as the Largest Car Boot Sale ever.

Capital 95.8 will be broadcasting live from the family day out

Lorne Spicer, TV presenter and renowned car boot expert will help compare the day, along with a host of other celebrities. She will draw raffle winners for prizes, which have been donated by celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Keira Knightley and Take That.

Lorne believes that this type of event can be really effective: "One in 7 items in the average home has been acquired second hand, either from car boot sales, second hand shops or auctions — so days like this are a real draw, particularly when they have the backing of a household name like Loot. Everyone who participates can have the satisfaction of finding a really good bargain, and raise money for a great charity!"

Melanie Klass, Loot’s Managing Director, describes how the concept was created: "We have been looking for a charity to support where our strong brand recognition can add real value by helping the lives of kids in London. Help a London Child is a truly great charity which I am delighted to support both personally as well as professionally. We hope that Loot’s reputation as an effective marketplace for buyers and sellers will attract the 2000 cars we need to be a world record breaker, and as all proceeds from the registrations and raffle go direct to the charity, we hope to raise as much as we can on the day."
