talkSPORT’s own football match

It was breakfast against drivetime – as Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show team took on Ian Wright’s Drivetime guys in a 5-a-side match for charity. The two ex-internationals laced up their boots for the talkSPORT 'M&M Direct Trophy for the Teenage Cancer Trust.'

Ian Wright’s team beat Brazil's 6 — 5, with former West Ham and England defender Alvin Martin scoring in the final minute to hand his side the win. And Wright proved he had lost none of the touch that saw him become Arsenal’s leading all-time goal scorer by slipping past two defenders and wrong footing the goalkeeper to open the scoring in the second minute.

Wright said: “This is it! This is it! I didn’t think in my first season here at talkSPORT I would even get in the team. And then when they said I was captain I just couldn’t believe it. It’s amazing. But I couldn’t have done it without the guys.”

The match was just one part of a new sponsorship deal between M&M Direct and the radio station.
