Findlay fails to agree deal

Former Radio Forth and Northsound boss Adam Findlay and his father, SMG chairman Richard Findlay have ended talks with Kingdom FM and Wave 102 about a possible takeover. A deal for Kingdom is said to have collapsed due to the two sides not being able to agree a price, according to a report.

However, the report in the Sunday Herald suggests price was not a problem with the possible purchase of Wave 102 from UTV Radio, more the frustrations about the length of time it was taking to do a deal.

Adam Findlay told the Sunday Herald: "We continue to have a good relationship with UTV and are disappointed that both parties haven't managed to conclude this deal. We remain very interested in Wave 102 and open to buying it in future.

The father and son duo set up a new company New Wave Media to buy media assets, but not limited to radio stations.

UTV Radio sold one of their other Scottish stations, Q96, to GMG Radio last year and it is widely known in the industry that UTV would like to offload Dundee station Wave 102, leaving them with just one station in Scotland – talk107.
