CanWest sells two stations

CanWest MediaWorks, owners of the Original brand in the UK has sold its two radio stations in Canada to Corus Entertainment. 99.1 Cool FM in Manitoba and 91.5 The Beat FM in Ontario changed hands for $15 million, leaving the company without any operational radio stations in Canada.

The sale of the two stations has been pending for some time, and leaves the Canadian media giant without any live radio stations in its home country. They currently hold a radio licence for Halifax, Nova Scotia but as yet have failed to launched a radio station there.

CanWest MediaWorks UK are featured in the August edition of X-Trax Magazine, and own Original 106 in Southampton, Original 106.5 in Bristol and will soon be launching Original 106 in Aberdeen. A new national digital service will be launched next year on the 4 Digital Group multiplex.
