Real help comeback Kid

80s pop star Kid Creole's hoping to make a return to the charts – with a little help from Real Radio Yorkshire. Breakfast presenter Daryl Denham's written a new song and Kid's recorded it.. now all they need is a record deal. The whole idea started from a link on the show.

The Real breakfast team played a Kid Creole and The Coconuts hit, and reminisced about the band on air. Knowing he used to live in the patch, they tracked down Kid – now known as August Darnell.

The former resident of Dinnington, South Yorks, went on the show for a chat and within days he was in a recording studio, laying down the vocals for "I've Got To Find (My Coconut)", which is now on the station's playlist.

Daryl Denham penned the song with music producer Mo Cheetham. Daryl told RadioToday.co.uk, "Kid is a legend, a real gent, so we’re doing all we can to secure a record deal for him and get the Coconuts back where they belong — at the top of the tree!

"The song is getting some great feedback from listeners so all we need now is a record deal for him. Let’s bring Kid Creole back and hopefully then the summer will actually begin!"
