Xfm supports D:percussion

97.7 Xfm is to support the last ever D:percussion – the free music festival in Manchester's Castlefield. Clint Boon will be broadcasting his show live from the event on the day, with other Xfm presenters Dave Haslam, Gareth Brooks and Sunta Templeton also making an appearance.

Artists already confirmed for the Xfm Main Stage include The Sunshine Underground, Cherry Ghost, The Whip, The Elektrons, The Real Dolls and the Trafford Urban Development Project who will wow the crowd with a selection of indie beats.

D:Percussion, which was first organised by a group of mates from Manchester as a response to the devastation and destruction caused by the IRA bombing will also this year feature ten other live stages, the UK’s first festival Roller Disco, an Urban Peace Garden and Club Tropicana Beach Bar, making it certain that its final event will be the best ever.

Speaking to Xfm about the ceasing of D:percussion, Steve Smith, one of the people behind the event said ‘’Getting sponsors for the event is very hard and to turn D:percussion into a paid-for event would be against it’s ethos’’.

Xfm Manchester’s Marketing and Events Controller Justice Ellis said ‘’ As Manchester’s newest radio station, we are thrilled to be supporting Manchester’s longest standing free music festival’’
