BBC 1Xtra borrows Radio 1 DJs

Trevor Nelson and Tim Westwood are to host new programmes on BBC 1Xtra, whilst continuing their Radio 1 shows. Nelson will takeover breakfast from October 8th with new signing Zena, a former member of girl group Mis-Teeq, whilst Westwood gets a Sunday night hip hop show.

Starting September 10th, UK hip hop specialist MistaJam takes over the evening show which will feature underground flavours plus mixes, live music and charts.

In addition, Dev is promoted from his weekend show to the early breakfast show, 6-8am weekdays, Max takes over a new afternoon show, 2-4pm, Twin B gains two new shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings, 6-9am and Ronnie Herel gains a new Saturday chart show (1-4pm) and a Sunday show (1-4pm).

Andy Parfitt, Controller, Radio 1 and 1Xtra, said: "This is chapter two for 1Xtra as we continue to grow the station. We have the cream of DJ talent showcasing the best black music around and in Trevor and Tim Westwood, the two biggest players in RnB and hip hop.
