KCFM goes live in Hull

KCFM 99.8 has started broadcasting this morning in Hull. Breakfast presenter and local lad Steve Jordan launched KCFM 99.8 at 6am with an interview between PC Tim Jibson and Chairman Ian Blakey followed by Twist and Shout by The Beatles. The station, serving Hull and East Yorkshire, promises to be a local station for local people with 24 hour news, music and sport.

New studios have been created at Planet House, on Hedon Road in Hull with a playout system provided by Hull's PSquared and a classic KVIL jingle package has been re-sung from JonesTM in Dallas. Presenters include Steve Jordan, Clare Westwood and Al Dupres. Tony Blackburn, Dave Lee Travis and Sir Jimmy Saville will also be making an appearance via syndicated programming.

The station boasts live match commentary from all Hull City, Hull FC and Hull KR matches, from Alex Burgess (Hull City) and David Doyle Davidson (Hull FC), and fresh new talent Rob Chadwick and Karl Svenson for Hull KR.

Ian Blakey told RadioToday.co.uk: ”Almost all you will ever want to hear in speech, sport and music will be available. Our objective each and every day is to bring the ‘feel good factor’ into the lives of our listeners”

KCFM is named after Kingston Communications, one of the stations backers.
